CBSE Retains COEMPT for Re-Evaluation 2026, Moves Answer Sheet Records to Its Own Servers

The Central Board of Secondary Education will continue with COEMPT Eduteck for the re-evaluation of Class 12 answer scripts, despite reports suggesting that the vendor had been dropped from the process. The OSM portal developed by COEMPT will continue to be used for re-evaluation while the company will also handle scanning work under its existing contract.
Officials indicated that COEMPT remains part of the process because of its established scanning infrastructure across the country. The company has reportedly scanned nearly 40 crore pages with issues identified in around 30,000 pages, a ratio that officials believe is manageable for the limited set of answer scripts now under review. CBSE Tightens Control After Portal and Security Concerns
At the same time, CBSE strengthened oversight of the re-evaluation system by shifting scanned answer sheet records from COEMPT servers to its own infrastructure, giving the board direct control over examination data. During the migration the vendor's code was reviewed, upgraded and adapted to operate securely on CBSE systems, with COEMPT personnel assisting CBSE teams in understanding the codebase and completing the transition.
The move followed technical and security concerns that emerged after the scanned photocopy portal went live on 19 May 2026. In response CBSE formed a blue and red team comprising developers and experts from IITs to identify vulnerabilities, strengthen security and conduct rigorous testing before restoring functionality.
