As a flagship milestone of the Yuva Sangam Phase 6 cultural exchange under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) initiative, a delegate cohort of higher education students from Delhi met with the Honorable Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka, at the IIT Bhilai campus. Acting as the nodal host institute for the Delhi-Chhattisgarh interstate youth corridor, IIT Bhilai organized the strategic cross-cultural session to blend classroom academic theory with real-world public policy and governance execution.

As part of Yuva Sangam Phase 6 in Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat initiative, a group of students representing Delhi, hosted by IIT Bhilai, met the Honorable Governor of Chhattisgarh, Shri Ramen Deka, at the campus of IIT Bhilai. This meeting was part of an extensive exchange programme designed to promote culture understanding, integration, and youth leadership through dialogueThe session began with a brief speech delivered by Governor Ramen Deka, after which he engaged in discussion with the delegates.

The student delegation consisted of selected students from various colleges in Delhi accompanied by faculty members and program organizers from IIT Bhilai. The Governor's talk focused on governance, priorities of development of the region, and expectations from the youth.

What were the Key messages of the Governor?

Governor Deka emphasized the contribution of youth in nation building and exhorted them to blend their academic learning with practical skills and good leadership qualities. He stressed the need for civic responsibility, community involvement, and the appreciation of the rich Indian culture, as being crucial for nation building. He suggested to the students that they should be innovative and entrepreneurial in line with the priorities of the communities they represent.

The interaction enabled the students to experience how constitutional posts functioned in reality, as well as learn about the priorities of the state. The topics discussed included career options, public policy, and regional development. 

This helped students to gain a practical perspective on theoretical aspects studied at college concerning federalism and other concepts. The questions and answers session helped them clarify certain aspects related to internships, research work, and community service projects.

Students were advised to capture what they learned from this interaction and develop campus/community initiatives based on his suggestions. At IIT Bhilai, relevant themes discussed in the interaction will be further used for upcoming events, like those organized during Yuva Sangam Phase 6.
