CBSE Rejects Allegations Regarding the Award of Contract to Coempt Eduteck Amid Revaluation Portal Controversy
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has denied allegations of illegitimate contract awarded to Coempt EduTeck for its On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The announcement comes amid student complaints following the May 13, 2026, Class 12 result declaration, where issues such as blurred scans and portal crashes were reported on the revaluation portal.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), in a latest announcement, has strongly denied claims that it improperly awarded a contract to the company Coempt Eduteck. This comes amid a growing revaluation controversy over the digital marking of Class 12 answer sheets this year, with students raising issues online.
Nisarga Adhikary, the 19-year-old ethical hacker, in a series of viral posts identified Coempt EduTeck Pvt Ltd as the vendor linked to the OnMark digital evaluation platform. In ties with CBSE, as a response, the Board has confirmed that Coempt Edu Teck is handling the digitization process of the board’s new On-Screen Marking (OSM) framework.
However, the board has refuted the allegations of illegitimate connection with the company, calling it “erroneous, misleading and not based on facts.” CBSE stated that it strictly followed the necessary government financial rules when selecting the agency.
The Board clarified that it floated the RFP for Digital Evaluation of Answer books for Board Exams 2026 on the Central Public Procurement portal on August 28, 2025 and awarded the contract to the qualified bidder. The bid details can be found on the Board’s eProcurement portal at eprocure.gov.in.

What is CBSE Revaluation Portal Controversy?
The controversy can be traced back a few days ago where after the declaration of class 12 results on May 13, 2026, students applied for obtaining answer books online on the CBSE portal. Students who received their answer sheets reported issues like blurred scanned copies, portal crashes, mixed-up answer sheets, and high fees for re-evaluation.
What is Coempt EduTeck?
Coempt EduTeck is the company handling the digitization and management of the Board’s latest initiative on class 12 answer sheet evaluation - On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. The system was made where instead of checking papers manually, physical answer sheets were scanned and uploaded online for teachers to evaluate on their computer screens. The role of the company was only to provide technical support to the Board while carrying out grievance redressal of the students.
Background of Coempt EduTeck
Coempt EduTeck previously faced scrutiny in 2019 over technical and evaluation problems during the Telangana Intermediate Board examinations. At that time, opposition parties questioned if the company, called Globarena Technologies, received the contract due to political ties. The company's chief executive denied those claims, stating they won the contract based on technical and financial bids.
