Patna Schools Closed 2026: The Patna district administration has ordered the closure of all academic activities for students up to Class 8 in government and private schools till June 27, 2026, due to prevailing heatwave-like conditions. The decision has been taken to safeguard students from extreme temperatures and related health risks.

Patna Administration Orders School Closure

Patna District Magistrate Kundan Kumar issued the order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. According to the directive, all academic activities from pre-school to Class 8 will remain suspended across the district from June 22 to June 27, 2026. The order applies to both government and private educational institutions.

Why Are Schools Closed?

The district administration cited persistent heatwave-like conditions and rising temperatures as the primary reason behind the decision. Patna has recorded maximum temperatures hovering around 38 degrees Celsius in recent days, raising concerns about students' health and safety during school hours. Officials stated that prolonged exposure to extreme heat could lead to heat-related illnesses among children.

Instructions for Schools and Officials

School authorities have been directed to strictly comply with the closure order. The District Education Officer and other concerned officials have been instructed to monitor implementation and ensure that all institutions follow the guidelines issued by the district administration.

Will Schools Reopen After June 27?

Officials have clarified that the current order only affects academic activities up to Class 8 and will remain in force until June 27. Any decision regarding reopening will depend on prevailing weather conditions and a review by the district administration. Parents and students are advised to stay updated through official notifications from schools and local authorities.
