The Chattisgarh Board of Secondary Education has announced several new rules for the 2026 and 2027 academic year that will impact students from class 9 to 12. Under the revised guidelines students must maintain at least 75 percent attendance while an Apaar ID will be required for admission. The board has also decided to conduct board examinations twice in a single academic year. The move have been taken to introduce discipline while ensuring better record management and provide support to students.

75% Attendance Will Now Be Strictly Compulsory

One of the biggest changes announced by CGBSE is the strict implementation of the 75 percent attendance rule. According to the new guidelines, students who do not complete at least 75 percent attendance will not be treated as regular students. This means such students will not be allowed to appear in the exam as regular candidates. Instead, they will have to appear as private students. The board has, however, kept a small relief window for special cases. In exceptional situations, up to 10 percent attendance relaxation may be granted, but only under valid circumstances.Students and parents are advised to create and keep their Apaar ID ready before applying for admission.

Apaar ID Now Required for Admission in Class 9 and 12

Students seeking admission from class 9th to 12th will now have to provide their Apaar ID during the admission process. The board has made it clear that admissions will not be completed without this ID. As per the new rule schools must maintain accurate records for students making the admission process smooth.Students and parents are advised to create and keep their Apaar ID ready before applying for admissions.

Board Exams to Be Held Twice in One Academic Session

The CGBSE has also introduced a major change in its examination system for the 2026 and 2027 academic year. Under the new arrangement board examinations will be conducted twice during the same session. The first exam will be held between February to March while the second from June to July. this step is expected to give students an additional chance to perform better without having to wait for the next year.

Students With Low Attendance Will Be Treated as Private Candidates

The board has made its position very clear on attendance. If a student does not meet the 75 percent attendance requirement, the student’s admission as a regular candidate can be rejected. In such cases, the student will only be able to appear in the examination as a private student. This rule is expected to push students toward regular classroom participation and improve overall academic seriousness in schools.

Gap in Studies: Regular Admission Possible Only Up to One Year

CGBSE has also set clear rules for students who have taken a break in their studies. If the gap in studies is only one year, regular admission may still be possible. However, the student will have to submit an affidavit while applying. But if the study gap is more than two years, then the student will not be eligible for regular admission. In that case, the student will only be allowed to appear as a private candidate. This rule has been introduced to maintain continuity in regular schooling.

Admission Dates Announced for 2026-27 Session

The board has fixed the admission timeline for regular students of Classes 9th to 12th. The regular admission will commence from 16 June 2026 till 31 July 2026. In some special cases admissions may still be given up to 17 August 2026 with permission from the Board Secretary. This gives limited flexibility for students who may face genuine delays in the admission process.

Special Window for Students Passing the Second Main Exam

Students who pass the second main examination, which will be held in June-July, will also get a fresh chance to enroll. Such students will be allowed to take admission within 10 days from the declaration of their result. This provision is especially useful for students who clear their exam in the second attempt and still want to continue their studies without waiting for another full academic year.
