UP Budget 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Government on Wednesday presented its 10th full Budget, the last of its current term. With the state set to hold elections next year, this budget gains significance both politically and economically.

The budget was presented in the state assembly by the finance minister, Suresh Khanna. The main focus of UP Budget 2026-27 is infrastructure development, with increased investment in social welfare schemes.

The goal is to develop Uttar Pradesh into a trillion-dollar economy in the coming years with a focus on good governance, development, and public welfare.

The following are the key takeaways and highlights of the Uttar Pradesh Budget 2026:

1. The total budget is 9,12,696 crores, which is 12.2% more than the previous year’s budget. The fiscal deficit limit is set at 3% for the fiscal year 2026-27 and will remain in effect until 2030-31. Capital expenditure to be pegged at 19.5% of the outlay.

2. Sector-wise allocation in the UP Budget 2026 includes 12.4% for education, 6% for health, and 9% for health and allied activities.

3. UP’s GSDP or Gross State Domestic Product is estimated to touch 30.25 lakh crores in the current fiscal year, which is a 13.4% increase from the previous year.

4. The per capita income is expected to touch 1,20,000 in the year 2025-26.

5. Nearly 6 crore people have been lifted out of poverty.

6. The unemployment rate has reduced to 2.24%

7. UP ranks number one in the agricultural output across the country and is attracting investments in this sector.

8. Sugarcane payments facilitated by the government have been made to the extent of 3,04,321 crores, which exceeds the combined payouts made in the last 22 years by 90,802 crores.

9. Sugarcane prices for the 2025-26 season have been raised by Rs. 30 per quintal, thereby providing the farmers with an additional sum of 3000 crores.

10. Wheat worth 2512 crores was procured from the farmers, while it exceeded 9710 crores for paddy, and 545 crores for millets.

11. UP Budget 2026 also proposed labour shelters designed especially for the migrant labourers.

12. It has also made the provision for accident compensation for unorganised workers who have registered with the e-Shram card.

13. Pilot mobile vans are also proposed in this year’s budget for construction workers.

14. Creation of Uttar Pradesh Employment Mission has been proposed for expanding domestic and overseas job opportunities.

15. New schemes worth Rs.43000 crores have been announced.

16. A substantial amount of improvement is proposed on help given for the daughters’ marriage. It has been increased to 1 lakh from the existing 50,000 limit.

17. 10 lakh youths to be provided employment. 

18. 100 crore allocated for the overall development of Ayodhya.

19. 7,705 crore allocated for Housing and Urban Planning.

20. 400 crore has been allocated to distribute scooty to meritorious students.

21. More than 23000 youths were trained under the Mukhyamantri Abhyudyaya Yojana.

22. 3822 crore allocated for MSMEs.

23. Rs.315 crore allocated for a cancer institute in Lucknow.

24. Rs. 500 crores allocated for Mukhyamantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
