DElEd & TET Mandatory for UP Affiliated Primary Teacher Recruitment, Check the New Eligibility Rules

In a new policy update which is aimed at the standardising the education qualifty across the government-aided institutions in the Uttar Pradesh Education Department has updated the eligibility criteria for primary teacher recruitment in government-aided secondary school’s affiliated primary sections (Classes 1 to 5). Under these newrevised rules and regulations, passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) along with holding a recognised DElEd (Diploma in Elementary Education) or BTC (Basic Training Certificate) qualification has been made strictly compulsory for the direct appointment to the primary teaching posts.

DElEd and TET Qualification Regularised for UP Aided Primary Section Teachers

Previously, the recruitment to the affiliated primary sections in the government-aided secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh lacked uniform TET and DElEd rules. Under the new framework, future vacancies across all the government-aided primary sections will have to strictly follow the national educational rules which have been established by th National Council fro Teacher Education (NCTE). To be eligible for primary teacher positions (Classes 1 to 5) in these affiliated sections, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:-

• Teachers should have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university.
• Teachers should have a recognised DElEd or BTC diploma from a NCTE approved institution.
• Applicants must have qualified the Teacher Eligibility Test (UP-TET or CTET) for the primary level before submitting their application form. 

Revised Eligibility for Headmaster and Principals in Aided Schools

Along with the primary teaching staff, the state authorities updated appointment criteria for the administrative leadership roles in aided secondary institutions:

• Intermediate School Principal (Pradhanacharya):- Candidates must hold a Master’s degree (Postgraduation) with a minimum of 50% marks alongside a valid B.Ed. degree. In this structural change, Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs) have also been made eligible to complete for principal posts, restoring a pathway neglected for nearly 28 years. 
• High School Headmaster (Pradhanadhyapak):- Applicants should have a postgraduate (PG) degree with at least 50% marks and B.Ed. degree. Additionally, candidates holding a B.P.Ed. (Bachelor of Physical Education) qualifiecations are now eligible for headmaster posts in high school level aided institutions.

Important Guidelines for Aspiring Teachers in Uttar Pradesh

Candidates who are preparing for the government teaching vacancies in Uttar Pradesh should take note of these important guidelines:-

• Candidates should make sure that they have the primary level TET score card which is valid and details match the official identification documents.
• Candidates should make sure to verify their DElEd, BTC, B.Ed., or B.P.Ed. diploma and degree was awarded by an NCTE-recognised institution.
• Candidates are advised to keep track of job advertisements on the official state portals to align preparation with the subject-wise syllabus updates.
