Yoga to Reach Classrooms, Campuses and Competitive Exams

From the current academic session yoga will be introduced in the curriculum for Class 6 students. In the next academic year it will be expanded to all classes from Class 3 to Class 9. This step is meant to increase student participation in structured yoga education and support holistic growth in simple, practical ways.

To make this plan work well, Haryana will give special yoga asana training to Physical Training Instructors, DPED staff, PGTs and selected PRTs. This initiative is supposed to improve teaching capacity in schools and help students learn yoga correctly.

The government has also decided that all exams conducted by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission and the Haryana Public Service Commission will include mandatory questions on yoga. Along with this, a state-level institute of naturopathy and yoga will be set up in Morni to support research, training and wellness-based learning. Yoga will also become an important part of the five Centres of Excellence being developed in universities across Haryana.

Earlier, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, while speaking at a yoga practice programme at Baba Bhuman Shah Dham in Sirsa on International Yoga Day, said yoga is a priceless gift of Indian culture. He described it as a complete way of life that connects the body, mind, soul and society.
