IGIDR Fellowship 2026 application forms are now live for researchers who want to continue their academic work after completing their PhD. The Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research or IGIDR Mumbai is offering three post doctoral fellowships this year. The fellowships will run for one year. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 70, 000. The last date to apply for the fellowships is September 4, 2026. Who Can Apply for IGIDR Fellowship 2026
The fellowship is open to resident Indian candidates who are below 40 years of age. Applicants must have a PhD in the broad areas of Economics, Public Policy or Energy and Environment Policy. Candidates must also have at least 55 percent marks or an equivalent grade in their Master’s degree. Those who submitted their PhD thesis on or before July 31, 2026 can also apply even if they have not received the final degree. IGIDR has especially encouraged candidates who completed their PhD in the last two years. Junior faculty members can also apply. Applicants with a strong publication record are also encouraged to submit their forms.
Stipend Benefits and Selection Process
Selected fellows will receive a consolidated amount of Rs 70,000 per month for one year. They may also get campus accommodation on a sharing basis if it is available. Along with this fellows will get office space library access computing support and other research resources at the institute. The selection process will depend on the application research proposal and supporting documents submitted by the candidate. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview at IGIDR. During the fellowship selected candidates will work independently on their approved research plan. They must also produce at least one working paper and take part in academic activities at the institute.

They must fill out the application form and upload the required proposal and supporting documents before the last date i.e September 4, 2026. Candidates who are working as junior faculty members must send their application through their parent institution. They will also need to provide a No Objection certificate at the interview stage.
