CBSE Gulf students result 2026: The CBSE has introduced a 40:60 assessment formula for private Class 12 Gulf students whose exams were cancelled due to regional tensions. Marks combine 40% of Class 10 top-three averages and 60% of past Class 12 theory scores. Dissatisfied candidates can reject these marks and retake the next physical exams.

CBSE Special Assessment Scheme: Introduces 40:60 Marking Scheme for Private Class 12 Gulf Students

CBSE Gulf students result 2026: In this regard, the CBSE board has come up with a new system of assessment wherein the ratio 40:60 has been prescribed only for the private class 12th candidates living in Gulf countries. The above-given policy framework was formulated by the board considering the unusual security and tension conditions in West Asia, whereupon the board found it inevitable to cancel several important question papers in seven Gulf countries. In response to the plea filed in the supreme court by the private candidate from Saudi Arabia, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the bench that the all-India correctional policy was implemented on June 21, 2026.

As per this mathematical formula, the marks secured by the students in the missing subjects would be assessed based on the 40 percent weightage of Class 10 board results and 60 percent weightage of Class 12 board results in the theory test. Subjects that students successfully sat for before the regional cancellations will be evaluated purely on actual performance. Computed results will be automatically uploaded to students' secure DigiLocker accounts, while candidates dissatisfied with their calculated scores retain the legal right to decline them and physically appear in the next regularly scheduled public board examination cycle.

Who is eligible for the 40:60 formula?

The new assessment formula is intended for only a very unique category of students who satisfy all the following criteria:

  • Private Candidates: Students should necessarily be enrolled as private candidates (e.g., individuals sitting for compartmental exams, improvement in performance, and distance learners), and not as normal school students.

  • Residing in Gulf Countries: Students should be staying and registered in exam centers of one of the affected West Asia/Gulf countries, which include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Iran.

  • Class 12 Student: Assessment formula is specifically designed for Class 12 board examination.

  • Subject Papers Cancelled Due to Security Reasons: Formula is applied only to those subjects whose paper was cancelled due to regional security issues.

How are marks calculated?

In case there is no examination for certain subjects, CBSE uses the following two parts weighted method for calculating theory marks:

  • 40% Weightage: Based on the performance of the student in Class 10 Board Examination. CBSE finds out the average of the theory marks of the best three subjects of the student in the Class 10 Board Examination.

  • 60% Weightage: From the marks scored in theory portion of the last attempt Class 12 Board Examination.

What happens if a student is dissatisfied with the result?

When it comes to the learner being unhappy with the marks awarded under the new formula, then there is an easy way of solving the issue as follows:

  • Refusal and Examination Again: It is possible for the learner to refuse the marks awarded based on the 40:60 formula and opt to sit for the exams in the next scheduled examinations period by the board.

  • Validity of Scores: If the learner goes the way of retaking the exam, then the scores from the examination shall override those of the formula.
