From 5G To 6G: India Takes a Big Step Towards The Future Of Connectivity, Joins US And 24 Nations

In the next big step for the future, India has joined the list of 24 others with the United States for the international initiative solely for the development of next-generation 6G networks.

This is not a vague move; the world is turning as digital as possible. The 6G network technology is introduced with the aim that all future telecommunication networks are safe and secure and support innovation.

India Joins International 6G Effort: The US Department of Commerce announced India’s participation in a social media post on ‘X’, formally known as Twitter.

The post mentioned that US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick met Indian Minister of State for Commerce Jitin Prasada. This meeting was set for the discussion of the future of 6G.

The US announced that India has joined the US and 24 other countries in an effort to ensure next-generation networks reflect shared security interests, strengthen competitiveness and drive innovation in 6G.

The announcement was made after a discussion meeting happened between the Indian Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, Jitin Prasada, and US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick. The meeting happened on the sidelines of the G20 Innovation Ministerial.

According to the reports released, the two leaders diligently discussed the future of 6G technology. In the meeting, the highlight was the importance of international cooperation in developing this 6G technology for the future.

India and the US also discussed cooperation in several important technology areas:

• Data centres

• 6G telecommunications

Prasada also encouraged the possibility of greater US investment in ISM 2.0.

Jitin Prasada led the Indian delegation at the G20 Innovation Ministerial meeting. The meeting was  held on September 1 and 2 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States. The host of this meeting was the US Department of Commerce and the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP).
