RRB ALP Syllabus 2026 includes three levels namely CBT 1, CBT 2, and CBAT. CBT 1 consists of 75 questions from the subjects of mathematics, reasoning, and general science. The second computer-based test comprises two segments where segment A includes questions from core subjects and segment B contains questions from trades. CBAT is conducted for psychological testing of candidates applying for ALP positions only. 50 percent weightage each is allotted to CBT 2 segment A and CBAT.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2026

Steps for selecting candidates for the post of RRB ALP include CBT1, CBT2, Psycho Test, and Document Verification. Steps have to be followed sequentially to reach the next round.

The following is the pattern of examination:

Stage 1 - CBT 1 (Screening Test)

  • CBT 1 is a screening test whose scores are not added to the final merit list.

  • Total 75 questions for 75 marks to be answered within 60 minutes.

  • Subjects tested are Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Science.

  • +1 mark for every correct answer

  • Wrong answer incurs a penalty of negative marking -⅓

  • Qualifying criteria - UR/EWS 40%, OBC 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%

  • Latest Update in 2026 - General Awareness is no more part of CBT 1

Stage 2 - CBT 2 (Part A + Part B)

CBT 2 is conducted in a single day containing 175 questions in 2 hours 30 minutes

Part A

  • 100 questions are asked in 90 minutes

  • Subject: Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Basic Science & Engineering, General Awareness

  • Negative marking –1/3 mark for each wrong answer

  • Marks secured in Part A will be considered in the final merit list

Part B

  • 75 questions are asked in 60 minutes

  • Question will be asked from the selected trade by the candidate

  • Candidate should obtain minimum 35% marks to qualify

  • Qualifying in nature; no marks will be counted in the merit list

Stage 3 - CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test)

  • Conducted only for ALP post 

  • Candidate must get a minimum of 42 marks in each 

  • No Negative marking in CBAT

  • CBAT is qualifying in nature

Final Merit List 

  • Previous weightage = 70% of CBT 2 Part A + 30% CBAT

  • Present weightage = 50% of CBT 2 Part A + 50% CBAT
