The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the latest Class 12 Physical Education Syllabus. Physical Education (Subject Code: 048) for the 2026-27 academic session is a part of academic electives. Students are required to choose specialized subjects alongside main subjects. 

The paper structure follows a 70 Mark theory paper and 30 Marks is allotted for Internal Assessment. The subject aims at offering understanding of health, fitness, and sports sciences, through the updated curriculum. There are no major changes suggested by the CBSE for Class 12 Physical Education syllabus for the 2026-27 session. The latest syllabus includes major topics to be covered such as children and women in sports, sports for children with special needs etc. For the theory paper, the focus is to promote students into understanding the need of critical thinking instead of just learning the theories. Because the paper includes practical assessment, it helps students build and implement skills in real life situations. 

Latest Syllabus for 2026-27 includes: 

  • Women in Sports: Focuses on the Female Athlete Triad (Osteoporosis, Amenorrhea, Eating Disorders) and special considerations like menstrual dysfunction. 

  • Biomechanics and Sports: Covers projectory motion, Newton’s Laws of Motion and their direct application to sports performance, and levers. 

  • Test and Measurement: Emphasizes the Rikli & Jones Senior Citizen Fitness Test and calculates the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).
