BSI ASI Head Constable & Steno Exam Cancelled at Two Centres, Check New Dates and Official Updates

The Border Security Force (BSF), Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Stenographer and Head Constable (Ministerial) Computer-Based Test (CBT) has faced massive disruptions at a select few centres in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. Due to severe technical and electrical failures during the exam process, the authorities have officially scrapped the test at two specific centres located in Kanpur and Jaipur. The new exam date for the 500 affected candidates will be September 18, 2026. 

BSF Head Constable and Steno Re-Exam on September 18, 2026

Following the technical glitches during the multi-shift examination, administrative officials and test administrators have announced that a re-exam will be conducted on September 18, 2026. The cancellation of the exam has primarily affected the two key exam locations:-

• Kanpur Centre, MD Infotech Centre (Code 25916), Shyam Nagar.
• Jaipur Centre, iON Digital Zone Idz Sitapura 1 and iON Digital Zone Idz Sitapura 2, Jaipur.

At the Kanpur centre, computer systems repeatedly shut down within 15 to 20 minutes of starting in the morning shift. Despite the technical teams attempting quick repairs, the workstations failed to function consistently, resulting in a complete shutdown across all three scheduled shifts and affecting over 500 candidates. A similar severe technical breakdown at the Sitapura venue in Jaipur prompted an immediate cancellation to maintain test integrity.

What Went Wrong At The Test Venues?

The unexpected interruption caused significant distress among candidates, many of whom had travelled long distances. The entry at the Kanpur centre at the morning shift was initially delayed from 76:30 A. M to 9:00 AM. When the systems abruptly shut down 15 minutes into the paper, candidates waited for a long time without any solution, which in turn led to protests outside the venue. Authorities have also confirmed that an official investigation into the electrical and server-side failures is currently underway to prevent any kind of similar lapses during the upcoming rescheduled test.

Important Steps For Affected Candidates Before the Retest

Those candidates who were impacted by the cancellations at the Kanpur (MD Infotech) and Jaipur (iDZ Sitapura) centres must follow these steps to make sure a smooth processing at exam centres:-

• The previous admit card will not be valid for entry at the exam centre. Affected candidates must download a newly issued admit card from the official BSF portal before the new exam date.
• Check the new hall ticket carefully for any revised shift timings or reporting venue updates. 
• Avoid relying on unverified rumours; cross-reference all notifications directly through the official BSF recruitment website, rectt.bsf.gov.in.
• Make sure to carry original photo ID proof (Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, or Driving License) alongside the updated admit card on September 18, 2026
