Teacher’s Day 2026 honours 48 teachers with the National Teachers’ Awards, with Uttar Pradesh recording the highest number of winners at three. Here is the complete state-wise list and details about Ghaziabad teacher Dr. Renu Tripathi.
As Teacher’s Day is celebrated on September 5, the contribution of teachers in shaping students’ lives and improving school education is being recognised across the country. This year, 48 teachers have been selected for the National Teachers’ Awards for their notable contributions and innovative approaches to teaching.
Utar Pradesh has the highest number of awardees this year, with three teachers receiving the honour. It is followed by Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, West Bengal and the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (Central Organisation), with two awardees each. President Droupadi Murmu presented the awards to the selected teachers at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today.
The awardees were selected from participants representing 27 states, seven Union Territories and six Central Government organisations. Among the 48 recipients, 26 are male and 22 are female.

- Uttar Pradesh: 3 winners – Dr. Renu Tripathi, Dr. Iftkhar Khan and Ms. Shalini Kushwaha
- Bihar: 2 winners – Ms. Khushboo Kumari, Ms. Pushpa Prasad
- Madhya Pradesh: 2 winners – Dr. Archana Shukla, Shri Shailendra Pratap Singh
- Maharashtra: 2 winners – Dr. Kavita Narsingrao Gitte, Ms. Kunda Jayawant Bachhav
- Rajasthan: 2 winners – Dr. Divyendu Sen, Dr. Vartika Gulati
- West Bengal: 2 winners – Shri Palash Chowdhury, Shri Santanu Patra
- Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (Central Organisation): 2 winners
- Other participating States, Union Territories and Central Organisations: 1 winner each, including Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
Uttar Pradesh’s Renu Tripathi Wins National Teachers Award
Dr. Renu Tripathi, a 63-year-old science teacher at Government Girls’ Inter College in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad, has been recognised for making science learning more practical and accessible for students. Rather than limiting lessons to textbooks, she encourages students to understand scientific ideas through models, experiments and field visits.
Tripathi has also taken her teaching beyond the classroom by using digital platforms to reach learners. She runs two YouTube channels and creates online educational material to support students in their studies.
A key part of her teaching approach is simplifying concepts that students often find difficult. Lessons on subjects such as heredity, evolution, plant cells and atomic structure are presented through activities, demonstrations and experiments so that students can understand them through practical examples rather than simply memorising them.
She has also worked on developing teaching-learning resources in accordance with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Her efforts have helped connect classroom learning with activities that encourage students to observe, explore and understand scientific concepts.
The National Teachers’ Award comes at an important stage in Tripathi’s career, as she is expected to retire next year. However, retirement is unlikely to mark the end of her involvement in education. She plans to continue teaching and wants to work particularly with children from underprivileged backgrounds and orphaned children.
