NEET UG 2026: Auto Driver’s Son Scores 627, Secures MBBS Seat At KGMU Lucknow
Prabhat Kumar Yadav from Jaunpur improved his NEET score from 504 to 627 in his second attempt and secured an MBBS seat at KGMU Lucknow.
For Prabhat Kumar Yadav, securing an MBBS seat at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, was the result of a second attempt, years of preparation and strong support from his family. The student from Devkipur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district scored 627 marks in NEET UG 2026 and secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 3,864.
Prabhat’s achievement is particularly significant for his family. His father, Mahendra Kumar Yadav, has spent nearly two decades working as an auto-rickshaw driver in Mumbai, living away from his family and sending his earnings home to meet household and education expenses.
NEET UG 2026: Prabhat Improves Score From 504 To 627
Prabhat’s journey to medical college was not straightforward. In his first NEET attempt, he scored 504 marks, after which he decided to take a drop year and prepare for the examination again.
He initially prepared in his village before moving to Kota for classroom coaching. Reports said he received a 50 per cent fee concession from ALLEN Career Institute, while the remaining fees were paid in instalments by his family. His maternal uncle also helped with his expenses during his preparation.
The additional year of preparation helped Prabhat raise his score by 123 marks, taking it from 504 to 627. His performance earned him AIR 3,864 and an MBBS seat at KGMU.

From Jaunpur Village To KGMU Lucknow
Prabhat had maintained a strong academic record even before NEET. He scored 89.44 per cent in Class 10 and 83.44 per cent in Class 12, according to media reports.
His father’s long years of work in Mumbai played an important role in supporting his education. Prabhat has said that he wants to become a good doctor and serve people in his village and beyond.
Following his NEET UG 2026 result, celebrations were reported in Devkipur and nearby villages. For Prabhat’s family, the KGMU admission marks not just an academic achievement but also the outcome of years of effort and support.
