World Pharmacists Day is being celebrated on September 25, 2026, to recognise the contribution of pharmacists to healthcare and highlight their role in safe medicine use, patient care and public health. The annual observance is led globally by the International Pharmaceutical Federation.

World Pharmacists Day is observed annually on September 25. The date marks the anniversary of FIP’s establishment in 1912, while the day was officially adopted by the FIP Council in 2009.

Pharmacists work across community pharmacies, hospitals, pharmaceutical industries, research institutions and regulatory organisations. Their responsibilities include supporting appropriate medicine use, patient counselling, medication safety and health education.

In India, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has announced celebrations for September 25 under the global theme. The Indian campaign also carries the overarching mission “Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).”

The focus underlines the role pharmacists can play in promoting responsible antimicrobial use and raising awareness about antimicrobial resistance.
