India's First National Cow Culture museum will be established by the Uttrar Pradesh Brak Teerth Vikas Parishad at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Science University in Mathura. It will highlight the traditional religious, cultural and spiritual significance of the cow along with its scientific unitility, cow’s role in society and the rural economy. 

The project aims to blend the spiritual reverence of the ‘’Gau Mata’’ with the modern scientific advancement. Positioning the Braj region as a global hub for cow-based rural economy and its heritage and cultural preservation and scientific education. 

Key Highlights of the Museum: 

The museum is designed as an interactive educational center more than a gallery, will have  several unique features:

  • Digital and Symbolic Cattle Models: it will showcase approximately 100 digital and physical models of cattle, the collection will include all major indigenous Indian breeds, as well as rare and endangered species ensuring that future generations understand India's rich bovine biodiversity and its significance in the society. 

  • Scientific Dairy Products: One of the major highlights is a dedicated exhibition on milk and its products. Using modern technology the museum will explain the scientific, nutritional, and Ayurvedic benefits of milk products, moving beyond the religious context to scientific utility of cows and their products to the general public. 

  • On-site Dairy Parlor: A dairy parlor will be developed on the premises to provide a complete experience. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase and consume pure, authentic dairy products which will bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical benefits.

Agra Divisional Commissioner Nagendra Pratap stated that the museum will convey the religious, cultural, and spiritual significance of cattle, as well as the scientific utility of cows and their products to the general public. This unique confluence of tradition and science will foster a holistic understanding of cow conservation,While the cow has always held a "mother-like" status in the Sanatan tradition, the museum aims to demonstrate its role in a sustainable future:

The project serves as a milestone for adopting a scientifically structured economy centered around cattle. The museum will reinforce the Cultural Identity of the Braj region (Mathura-Vrindavan) as the historical land of Lord Krishna and his cows. By integrating Ayurveda and modern science, it promotes a "Sattvic" lifestyle and public welfare.
