UP Special TET 2026: The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) starts online registration for the UP Special TET 2026 today, September 5, 2026. This examination is for teachers already working in state-run, local body, and aided schools, as well as Special Educators (CWSN) across Uttar Pradesh. Candidates must first complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) on the official website, upessc.up.gov.in, before filing the application form. The exam has been introduced after a Supreme Court order made TET compulsory for serving teachers. Aspirants can apply until October 4, 2026, with a correction window open until October 8, 2026.

UP Special TET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying, candidates should meet all the eligibility Criteria set by the UPESSC. Check the detailed eligibility criteria such as educational qualification, age limit, and other requirements in the list given below:

Who Can Apply:

• In-service teachers currently working at Primary Level (Classes 1 to 5) and Upper Primary Level (Classes 6 to 8) in Uttar Pradesh government, local body, and aided schools

• Special Educators/Assistant Teachers (CWSN) working across Uttar Pradesh

Important Requirements:

• Teachers at Primary/Upper Primary level must mention their eHRMS code 

• Special Teachers (CWSN) must mention their RCI registration certificate number along with an active CRR number

• There is no separate age limit mentioned, but the candidate’s maximum age is 60 years as of November 3, 2026

Steps to Apply for UP Special TET 2026 

Candidates must follow these steps to complete the OTR and apply online through the official website:

Step 1: Complete One Time Registration (OTR)

• Visit the official website: upessc.up.gov.in

• Click on the OTR registration link

• Enter personal details (name, date of birth, category, mobile number, email ID)

• Note: Mobile number, email ID, home state, and home district cannot be changed later

• Submit and generate your OTR number

Step 2: Access the Special TET Application Link

• After OTR is complete, log in using your OTR credentials

• Click on the "Special TET 2026" application link

Step 3: Fill the Application Form

• Fill in all details mandatorily in English

• Enter category, sub-category, date of birth, and gender carefully, these cannot be changed after final submission (except during the correction window)

• Enter your eHRMS code or RCI/CRR number, as applicable

Step 4: Upload Documents

• Signature: JPG/JPEG, 10 KB–200 KB, 140x110 pixel resolution, white background

• Photograph: 30 KB–300 KB, 300–600 pixel resolution

• Certificates: PDF format, 50 KB–500 KB

Step 5: Pay the Application Fee

• Pay online via SBI I-Collect (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking) or SBI E-Challan at any SBI branch

Step 6: Final Submission

• Review all details carefully before submitting

Note: OTR or fee payment alone does not count as a completed application, final submission is required

• Download and keep the submitted application form and payment receipt safely for future reference

What is UP Special TET?

UP Special TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) 2026 is a special examination conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) for teachers who are already working in government, local body, and aided schools across Uttar Pradesh. Unlike the regular TET meant for new job seekers, this exam is specifically for in-service teachers and Special Educators (CWSN) who have not yet cleared TET. It was introduced after the Supreme Court made TET mandatory for all serving teachers, with a deadline of August 31, 2028, to clear it. Passing this exam allows working teachers to continue their jobs legally under the new eligibility rules.
