In the state of Tamil Nadu, schools are closed for the quarter examination leave period extending from the end of September till October 4, after which the functioning of schools is expected to resume from October 5. 

On the other hand, in the states of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, schools that operate a six-day working week are functioning normally while schools operating a five-day week have a long weekend of three days. It is advisable for parents and students from all districts to verify the attendance policy from their school circular or online websites.

Tamil Nadu School Holiday October 3, 2026

The schools in Tamil Nadu will be closed entirely on Saturday, October 3, 2026. This closure will not be done under emergency conditions but in connection with the quarter examination break period that starts on September 26, 2026, and ends on October 4, 2026. All schools in the state, both government and private, will have this holiday period. The students will resume their lessons on Monday, October 5, 2026.

Delhi (NCR) School Holiday October 3, 2026

The operations of schools in Delhi on October 3 will depend upon the timetable of each institution separately after Gandhi Jayanti holiday of October 2. Those institutions which have a six-day working week will operate normally and conduct classes, but those institutions which have a five-day working week (Monday to Friday) will be closed and give students a three-day weekend. There is no government declaration for any holiday on Saturday.

Uttar Pradesh School Holiday October 3, 2026

In Uttar Pradesh, the 3rd of October is a normal working day in most schools. Schools running on a schedule of six days a week will be functional as per their schedule, while schools operating on five days a week will remain closed. However, unless there is an order from any particular District Magistrate or Basic Shiksha Parishad for heavy rains or some other reason, state board schools will function normally after Gandhi Jayanti holiday.

Telangana School Holiday October 3, 2026

Telangana schools will function as usual on Saturday, October 3, as per their schedule of working days before the vacation period. The students are at present busy writing their Summative Assessment-1 exams, which will continue until October 9. The official vacation of 13 days for Dasara and Bathukamma will begin a week after, starting from October 10 until October 22.
