Admission Process for IIT Kanpur B Cyber Programme
Admission to the B Cyber programme will not be through JEE Advanced. Instead, students will be shortlisted based on their JEE Main scores and proof of prior work in cybersecurity. After that, selected candidates will have to appear for an in-person assessment at the IIT Kanpur campus, and this process will also include a hackathon. IIT Kanpur has also said that a dedicated webpage for the programme is being prepared and is expected to go live next week, where full details about eligibility, admission and the application process will be shared.
Course Structure and Practical Training
According to the institute, the programme has been designed to mix academic learning with practical exposure. In the first two years, students will study on campus through classroom teaching and lab-based training to build strong concepts in cybersecurity and gain hands-on experience in controlled settings. In the final two years, students will work with government security organisations through internships, where they will take part in real cybersecurity projects and security challenges. IIT Kanpur Director Manindra Agrawal said cybersecurity has become a critical area, especially for protecting digital infrastructure and national systems, while Nitin Saxena, Dean of the Wadhwani School of AI and Intelligent Systems, said the programme aims to prepare skilled professionals through a strong balance of theory and practical training.
