The Duleep Trophy is a prestigious domestic cricket competition in India, established in 1961 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Named after Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, a famous Indian cricketer, the tournament initially featured teams representing different geographical zones of India—North, South, East, West, and Central. It later evolved to include teams like India Red, India Blue, and India Green.
Duleep Trophy or IDFC First Bank Duleep Trophy (due to sponsor reasons) is a first-class cricket tournament in India, named after the legendary cricketer Duleepsinhji. It features teams representing different zones of India competing against each other.
In the 1961–1962 season, the BCCI established the competition. The tournament was contested between the different geographical zones of India, namely, North, South, East, West, and Central.
Composition of Teams
Each zonal team is made up of cricketers from Ranji Trophy state/city teams in that region of India. The teams that compose each zone are as follows:

List of the Winners of the Duleep Trophy
Named in honour of Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar, commonly known as Duleep, the inaugural Duleep Trophy was held in the 1961–62 season.
In that first tournament, the West Zone triumphed over the South Zone by 10 wickets in the final. In addition, the West Zone is the most successful team in the competition, with 19 trophies. To date, the Duleep Trophy has been contested in 63 editions. In the 63rd edition, East Zone defeated South Zone after taking massive first innings lead at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The main architect of the win is Ishan Kishan who scored record breaking 270 runs in the first innings of match.
