India won the toss and elected to bat first. Abhishek Sharma led the innings from the front, scoring 69 runs off 30 deliveries, including 6 fours and 5 sixes. He was supported by Ishan Kishan, who scored 37 runs off 18 balls, and Tilak Varma, who contributed 28 runs off 16 balls.

West Indies began the chase with captain Shai Hope, who had scored a century in the previous match, departing early for just 5 runs.

Kamil Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer then put up a strong partnership, scoring 42 and 43 runs, respectively. However, both batters were dismissed before they could take West Indies closer to the target.

Sherfane Rutherford and Shamar Springer later put up a fight, with Rutherford scoring 32 runs off 20 balls and Springer remaining unbeaten on 35 off just 11 deliveries. Bbut it was not enough to take West Indies across the line.
