On Friday, September 4, 2026, Uttar Pradesh and several other parts of India will celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Due to the local celebration banks will remain closed tomorrow in several states.
Although bank holidays vary from state to state, RBI has listed many holidays in September, on of them is for Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Tomorrow is marked as a bank holiday in Uttar Pradesh and few other regions. Banks in other states will have the normal schedule as it is the first Saturday of the month.
Due to the holiday, customers will not be able to access a few services. These are cash deposits, withdrawals, cheque-related work and other in-person banking services.

Will Online Banking Services Work?
Customers and students can continue using UPI, mobile banking apps, internet banking, ATMs, and debit and credit cards for most routine transactions.
Even if physical bank branches are closed, customers can continue to use digital banking services. These include:
- ATM cash withdrawals and deposits will work regardless of the bank closure.
- You will not be stuck, as UPI payments through apps such as Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm
- Internet banking and Mobile banking applications will work as they always do
- The process of IMPS, NEFT and RTGS money transfers will also be completed
- Most regular banking activities can still be completed online without visiting a branch
