TNEA 2026: Over 2 Lakh Candidates Register for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions
Tamil Nadu Directorate of Technical Education, DoTE has seen a massive increase in the application registration for the TNEA 2026, with over 2 lakh students registering for engineering seats so far. With approximately 2 lakh seats available across 400 plus affiliated colleges, the registration window is open until June 2, 2026.
Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions, TNEA, 2026 has reached a major milestone with over 2 lakh candidates registering on the official portals till now. Conducted by the Directorated of Technical Education, DoTE, the single-window online counselling process is the main doorway for students seeking admissions to various under-graduate engineering courses in the state. Since the registration process started on May 3 , 2026, there has been influx of applicants registering for TNEA exam.
As of mid-may, more than 1.76 lakh students had already registered their applications, with over 1 lakh completing the payment process. This year, the demand is expected to remain high, particularly for popular disciplines such as Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, Cyber Security, and Data Science.
TNEA 2026: Important Dates and Admission Schedule
Aspiring studnets should keep a track of the following important dates to ensure their participation in the counselling process:-
- Last Date for the registration: June 2, 2026
- Last date to Upload the required documents: June 6, 2026
- Certificate Verification: June 8 to June 20, 2026
- Release of the Rank List: June 29, 2026
- Grievance Redressal will start from: June 30 to July 4, 2026
Admissions are based purely on Class 12th merit marks, with no separate entrance exam required for TNEA. There are over over 2 lakh engineering seats available across more than 400 colleges affiliated with Anna University. The registration fee is Rs. 500 for General, BC, MBC categories and Rs 250 for SC, SCA, ST candidates.
