JEE Advanced 2026 LIVE: Exam Today, Check Important Instructions, Updates Here

The JEE Advanced Exam 2026 for paper 1 is slated to be started at 9 AM sharp. Students are advised to maintain their nerves for this critical examination. The marks scored in this examination will dictate whether they will secure a seat in the top engineering institutions in India or not.

Candidates are advised to carry their admit cards, photo ID, and passport size photographs for the examination. The gates for the exams have been closed and the students are entering the examination halls, towards their designated seats. Candidates must arrive at the test center 60 to 90 minutes before the exam to complete security procedures, including biometric fingerprint scanning, photograph capturing, and manual frisking. 

All the candidates must simultaneously fulfil each and every one of the following five criteria to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2026:

Invigilators will provide a blank notepad for rough work in the examination hall. It will allow students to do their calculations for the exam. Candidates must label it with their details and leave it behind or hand it over to the invigilators after the exam, while exiting the exam hall.

• Students should wake up early to avoid rushing to the examination centre and to minimise any travel stress on the morning of the exam.
• It is important to eat a light and nutritious breakfast to ensure a steady supply of energy throughout the exam.
• Candidates are advised to wear simple, comfortable clothes that strictly follow the prescribed dress code.
• Before leaving for the centre, students must double-check that they have their printed admit card and a valid photo ID.
• Maintaining a calm mindset and avoiding the study of new topics at the last minute will help keep the mind fresh.

Candidates appearing for the first session must report to the exam hall before the 9 AM start time. The gates opened at 7 AM to allow enough time for identity checks. No student will be allowed to enter the centre once the examination begins. It is mandatory for all registered candidates to appear in both sessions of the test. They must carry their admit cards to be allowed entry to the examination hall with their other proper documents.

3. Enter your registration number, date of birth, and mobile number to submit

Students can contact the Organizing Chairperson of JEE Advanced 2026 at the JEE Office located at IIT Roorkee, Uttarakhand - 247667 by phone at +91-1332-285224 or via email at orgjee@iitr.ac.in. As per the information provided on the official exam website, the office is available from Monday to Friday, between 9 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 6 PM on government working days.

The IIT Roorkee laid out some guidelines on the things to carry to the exam hall. They have also published rules and regulations for the students appearing for the exam. It suggests:

• Candidates must ensure they arrive approximately 1 hour before the gate closing time to complete necessary checks like frisking and biometric verification without delay.
• Inside the examination hall, candidates are only allowed to carry a printed copy of the JEE Advanced 2026 admit card, an original photo identity card, two passport-sized photographs, pens and pencils, and a transparent water bottle. A medical certificate must be carried too if required, as per the case.

Electronic gadgets and several personal items are strictly prohibited inside the examination center. Prohibited items include mobile phones, smart watches, watches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, and health bands. Additionally, candidates are not allowed to bring calculators, electronic pens, pen drives, scanners, wallets, handbags, cameras, or goggles. Written notes, printed papers, log tables, writing pads, geometry boxes, scales, erasers, pencil boxes, pouches, or any similar electronic or communication device are also barred from the hall.

Students should have reached their respective exam centres for Paper 1 by now, which starts at 9 AM today. They are only allowed to carry a pen, pencil, and a transparent water bottle inside. All electronic gadgets and personal belongings like wallets or bags are not allowed inside the examination hall.

IIT Roorkee issued a detailed guideline on the exam guidelines, titled “Important Instructions for Candidates”. It lists the dress code for JEE Advanced candidates, prohibiting jewellery and metallic items like rings, bracelets, chains, earrings, and brooches. It suggests that students should wear open footwear, such as sandals or chappals, and avoid clothing with large buttons. Charms or taweez are not allowed in the exam hall.

The JEE Advanced 2026 exam consists of two sessions: Paper 1, to be held from 9 AM to 12 PM, and Paper 2, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The PwD candidates will receive one hour of extra time. The paper is bilingual, i.e., it will be conducted in both English and Hindi, and will allow candidates to switch languages. According to the marking scheme, four marks are awarded for correct answers, while one mark is deducted for incorrect ones.
