Bihar School Timings Revised: Government Changes Schedule for Primary and Secondary Schools Due to Severe Heatwave

The Bihar Education Department has changed secondary and higher secondary school hours from June 22 to June 30, 2026, due to severe heatwave conditions. DM may also implement local measures, such as closing schools for lower class students, to ensure safety while maintaining academic progress.

The Education Department, (Directorate of Secondary Education), Government of Bihar has changed the school timings in Bihar. According to official information shared, the school timeing will be scheduled from early morning to noon, is to help students to deal with the hot summer weather. The new schedule will be implemented from June 22, 2026 to June 30, 2026. The Education Department made this change to protect students from the heatwave and hot summer conditions. The  new timings will be from 6:30 AM to 12:30 PM.

The Government of Bihar and the Education Department want to make sure that the students stay safe during this extreme heat wave condition, without compromising with their classes. Schools in Bihar will follow the morning shift schedule till June 30, 2026. All the class will be taken as per the mentioned timngs, each period is consist of 40 minutes. Bihar School New Timing Schedule

As per the official circular schools across Bihar will start operating early in the morning at 6:30 AM and end up by 12:30 PM. The daily structured timetable for schools during this period is given below:

The state says that the DM can decide what to do about school timings depending on the weather in their area. The DM have the power to make these decisions to protect the students from the heat
