RRB NTPC Typing Test Shortlisting

Candidates are shortlisted for the RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test (TST) based on their performance in the 2nd Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 2). The Railway Recruitment Board follows a clear shortlisting rule for this stage. Candidates are shortlisted in the ratio of 8 times the total number of vacancies for each clerical post and community category.

For instance, if there are 50 vacancies for the post of Junior Clerk Cum Typist, a total of 400 candidates (8 × 50) will be called to appear for the Typing Skill Test.

The RRB NTPC Typing Test is conducted on a Personal Computer (PC) without any editing features, auto-correct options, or spell-check tools. RRB NTPC Typing Test Exemptions for PwBD Candidates

The Railway Recruitment Board provides exemptions from the Typing Skill Test for eligible Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). Candidates belonging to the following disability categories are exempted from appearing in the TST:

• Blindness or Low Vision

• Cerebral Palsy

• Locomotor Disability with 40% or more permanent disability

PwBD candidates must fulfill the following requirements to claim the exemption:

• Upload a valid Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate issued by the Competent Medical Board

• Ensure that the certificate is uploaded on the respective RRB official website before the scheduled test date

What After RRB NTPC Typing Test?

Candidates must clearly understand that the RRB NTPC final merit list is prepared only on the basis of marks scored in the 2nd Stage Computer-Based Test (CBT 2). The Typing Skill Test (TST) is conducted purely as a qualifying stage. Marks obtained in this test are not added to the final score.

However, qualifying the Typing Skill Test is mandatory. Candidates who fail to clear the TST or do not submit a valid Typing Skill Test Exemption Certificate (in the case of eligible PwBD candidates) will be excluded from the final merit list, regardless of their CBT performance.
