Nobel Laureates Inspire Next-Generation Leaders at KIIT's 21st Convocation

Oct 1, 2025, 12:07 IST

Following a tradition of excellence, the KIIT Deemed-to-be-University campus was abuzz with inspiration and joy as it celebrated its 21st Annual Convocation over three days for the first time ever. Almost 9,500 students proudly graduated this year — 7,235 at the graduation level, 2,034 postgraduates, and 195 doctorates. The three-day format allowed each graduate and their loved ones to participate in the milestone day.

What made the convocation even more memorable was the attendance of internationally renowned personalities. Among them were Nobel Laureate Prof. Mohan Munasinghe of Sri Lanka, Nobel Peace Prize recipient H.E. Ouided Bouchamaoui of Tunisia, and Dr. Justice Abdulqawi Ahmed Yusuf, Judge and Former President of the International Court of Justice. Their words bore the weight of experience and the spark of hope.

The university also awarded honorary doctorates to prominent leaders from various parts of the globe, such as Dr. Fidel Reyes Lee, Rector and Congressman of Guatemala; Dr. Huzaifa Khorakiwala, Executive Director at Wockhardt Ltd. and philanthropist; Mr. Norbert Sauer, Chairman of the Archaeological Park in Germany; Mr. Sunjoy Hans, Founder of the Lalchand Group; and Mr. S.K. Sachdeva, Chairman & Editor of Competition Success Review, besides Ms. Bouchamaoui.

At their speeches, the speakers delivered strong messages to the graduates. Prof. Munasinghe discussed the world's urgent issues of sustainability, poverty, and inequality, challenging young professionals to be the solutions to an equitable future. Justice Yusuf encouraged students to stand up as champions of peace and justice and to "build bridges of trust" and never remain silent against injustice.

Ms. Bouchamaoui, overwhelmed with the honor, thanked being part of a legacy of Nobel awardees who have toured KIIT. Others talked about the journey of KIIT and KISS at the hands of its founder, Dr. Achyuta Samanta. They rated him as a humanitarian and educationist whose efforts have transformed the institutes into centers of learning and social transformation.

"The Class of 2025 represents not only knowledge but also the drive to bring about change," averred Chancellor of KIIT-DU Shri Ashok Kumar Parija. Pro-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Acharya urged the graduates that education is not a one-time process, and Vice-Chancellor Prof. Saranjit Singh and Registrar Prof. J.R. Mohanty also spoke to the assembly.

Dr. Samanta, in his valedictory address, congratulated the graduates and reiterated the mission of the university. "As we celebrate your achievement, we also reaffirm our institutional dedication to excellence in research, innovation, and social responsibility," he stated.

The three-day convocation was not merely a celebration of intellectual achievement but also a reminder that the real test of education is not in spectacle, pomp, or ceremony, but in service, kindness, and the courage to change the world.
