NCC Camp Opened at SBS University under 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' Scheme
A ten-day National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp, sponsored by the 81 UK BN NCC, Bageshwar, Uttarakhand, on the theme Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB-II), was today inaugurated at Sardar Bhagwan Singh (SBS) University. The camp brings together 600 dynamic cadets of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Uttarakhand with the goal of fostering national integration and cross-cultural exchange on the slogan of unity in diversity.
Inauguration ceremony included a perfectly rendered Guard of Honour, with immaculately dressed cadets performing a choreographed salute, representing brotherhood and discipline. The event combined respect with genuine hospitality, creating the environment of respect and togetherness for each other. Notable SBS University officials present were Dr. Veerma Ram, Director, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences & Technology, Mr. Zorawar Singh, Manager, Deputy Registrars, Lt. Col. (retd.) R.P. Jugran, and Mr. Vipin Jain, officials and instructors of 81 UK BN NCC, were also present to bless the occasion.
Group Commander and guest of honor Brig. Vikas Dhingra gave a stirring opening address. He recognized the importance of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat program for defining the rich cultural diversity of India. "This program combines the rich tradition of our states, building up mutual respect," he claimed. Inspiring the cadets to seize the moment to acquire diverse languages, cultures, and ways of life, he added, "As the future leaders of our nation, your capacity to work in differences will determine India's prosperity." Brig. Dhingra highlighted the NCC core values—discipline, integrity, and selfless service—as the guiding principles for the cadets.
Prof. (Dr.). Kumar, Vice Chancellor, SBS University, welcomed the cadets with warmth, with pride at conducting this important function. He emphasized the role of the university towards holistic education with a blend of academic distinction, character development, and social responsibility. "The EBSB program is also in line with our vision to develop kind-hearted, socially responsible leaders," he added. Prof. Kumar urged the cadets to utilize maximum benefits from the activities at the camp and promised them the full support of the university for an enriching experience.
Col. Satyaendra Tripathi, Camp Commanding Officer, presented the entire calendar, including physical training, drill perfection and team-building with the vision of imparting discipline, determination, and leadership. "This is an opportunity to challenge yourself and accept challenges in life," he said, mentioning that the commitment of the cadets is necessary to achieve the EBSB vision and prepare them as good leaders and citizens of the future.".
The activity was spic and span planned by Lt. (Dr.) Deepa Mishra Thapliyal, Associate NCC Officer (ANO), and Lt. (Dr.) Mohit Bhatt, ANO, 29 UK NCC Battalion, Dehradun, demonstrating SBS University's NCC Wing's desire for all-round development of cadets.
This camp will prove to be an eye-opener, allowing cadets with the skills and qualities to be able to contribute positively towards a peaceful, vibrant India.
