September 24, 2026, following heavy rainfall alerts and wind warnings triggered by Cyclone Arnab. Local administrations across several vulnerable regions declared holidays for primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools alongside Anganwadi centres to prioritise student safety. Odisha schools will be closed from September 23 to September 25, 2026. The order was issued by the Collector and District Magistrate after weather forecasts warned of strong winds, heavy to very heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning. The India Meteorological Department, IMD issued Red and Orange alerts across southern Odisha, neighboring northern Andhra Pradesh, and parts of Telangana as the deep depression intensified along the Westcentral Bay of Bengal.
