Rajasthan University Gets New VC; Governor Appoints Heads For 3 State Universities
Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde has appointed new Vice Chancellors for Rajasthan University, Shekhawati University and Maharaja Ganga Singh University, with all three appointments carrying a three-year term.

Rajasthan University has got a new Vice Chancellor (VC), with Professor Bhagwati Prasad Saraswat appointed to head the university. Rajasthan Governor and Chancellor Haribhau Bagde also appointed new Vice Chancellors for two other state universities, according to orders issued on Thursday.
The appointments were made in consultation with the Rajasthan government. The new VCs will serve for three years from the date of assuming office or until they attain the age of 70 years, whichever is earlier.
Bhagwati Prasad Saraswat Appointed Rajasthan University VC
Saraswat, who is currently the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kota, will take charge of Rajasthan University from Professor Alpana Kateja. Kateja's tenure as Rajasthan University's first woman VC is set to end on September 25.
The appointment comes at a time when Rajasthan University is dealing with several academic and administrative matters. The university has also recently been in focus over issues related to its PhD admission process, with the Governor's office seeking a report from the registrar over alleged irregularities in admissions.

New VCs For Shekhawati, Maharaja Ganga Singh Universities
Along with Rajasthan University, the Governor appointed Professor Yudhveer Singh as the Vice Chancellor of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Shekhawati University, Sikar. Professor Narsi Ram Bishnoi has been appointed Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, Bikaner.
The appointments provide new leadership at the three state universities and are expected to oversee academic, administrative and student-related matters during their respective terms.
Rajasthan Has 24 State Universities
The Governor serves as the ex-officio Chancellor of Rajasthan's state universities and appoints Vice Chancellors in accordance with the relevant university laws, in consultation with the state government. According to the Rajasthan Lok Bhavan, the state currently has 24 state universities.
The latest appointments are part of the state's continuing process of appointing regular leadership across its public universities.
