The government has rolled out high-level security arrangements for the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam scheduled for June 21 after serious concerns over the earlier paper leak. In a major step, question papers will be airlifted from Delhi to Madurai and then flown by an Indian Army helicopter to the Tirunelveli Armed Reserve Ground. A dry run was recently conducted there to test the movement and safety of the papers. This new plan shows how seriously authorities are taking the re-exam, which is being held under intense public attention after the controversy affected a large number of students across the country.

Stronger Security Measures for Re-NEET 2026

To make the exam process more secure authorities have introduced several layers of monitoring and checking. These include four-layer CCTV coverage supported by AI surveillance, biometric verification, facial recognition before entry, multiple rounds of frisking, and close supervision at different levels. The entire operation is reportedly being monitored very strictly to avoid any repeat of the issues that damaged trust in the exam earlier.

The decision to transport question papers by air instead of using traditional courier systems is also part of this upgraded plan. Officials believe these measures will reduce risk and save time. According to the government these steps are aimed at ensuring the exam is conducted smoothly, safely and without any chances of tampering. With lakhs of medical aspirants depending on a fair test the administration is trying to restore confidence through visible and strict action.

Opposition Criticism and Government’s Response

While many see these measures as necessary opposition leaders have questioned why such extreme arrangements are needed for an entrance exam.Critics say the heavy security setup reflects a failure to protect the exam system earlier. Some have also pointed out that extra screening, longer frisking procedures, and the increase in exam duration from 180 minutes to 195 minutes could create added stress for students already under pressure.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has defended the arrangements, saying there is nothing unusual about using advanced security methods when the goal is to protect students’ interests. He said that in today’s technology-driven world, risks can come from many directions, so stronger precautions are justified. According to the government, the focus is not on appearances but on making sure the re-exam is fair, secure, and free from disruption.
