MPSC Reform Panel Gets 20,000 Emails From Aspirants: Fixed Exam Calendar, Transparency Among Key Demands
A Maharashtra government panel examining reforms in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) recruitment system has received more than 20,000 emails from aspirants. Candidates have sought a fixed exam calendar, transparent evaluation, better question papers and timely declaration of results.

A high-level task force set up by the Maharashtra government to improve the MPSC recruitment examination system has received more than 20,000 emails from candidates and other stakeholders. The suggestions cover several aspects of the examination process, including question paper quality, evaluation, exam schedules, results and communication.
The panel is headed by V Radha, Additional Chief Secretary (General Administration). It has been holding consultations with MPSC aspirants across Maharashtra to understand their concerns and prepare recommendations for improving the recruitment process.
Fixed Calendar for MPSC Exams
One of the major demands raised by aspirants is a fixed and predictable calendar for preliminary and main examinations as well as interviews. Candidates have also sought timely declaration of results and appointment-related decisions.
The committee is examining the entire recruitment cycle, including examination scheduling, question paper preparation, evaluation, normalisation of marks, results, waiting lists and final appointments.

Aspirants Seek Transparent Evaluation
Candidates have also called for greater transparency in checking answer sheets and fixing answer keys. They have asked for improvements in the quality of question papers and clear rules for normalisation of marks in examinations conducted in multiple shifts.
The panel is also considering standard operating procedures (SOPs) for question-paper distribution and the conduct of competitive examinations. It will examine the procedure to be followed if an examination needs to be cancelled and measures to protect candidates who have already been selected.
Demand for Better Communication
Aspirants have also highlighted the need for an official and reliable source of information regarding MPSC examinations. They have sought advance information before any changes are made to the examination pattern and a system for communicating important updates to candidates.
The committee has interacted with around 1,750 people during consultations in Pune, Nagpur and Amravati. It has also received suggestions on examination centres, invigilator training, digital systems and exam security.
Panel to Submit Recommendations
The task force is expected to complete its division-wise consultations by September 30 and submit its recommendations to the Maharashtra government within three months. The proposed reforms are aimed at making the state recruitment examination process more transparent, credible, quality-oriented and time-bound.
