IIT Kharagpur Organises 22nd Annual Alumni Meet, Mini-Marathon, Live Cultural Programmes Conducted as Part of Platinum Jubilee Year

IIT Kharagpur organized their 22nd Annual Alumni Event from January 9 to 11, 2026. The event was organized by the Students’ Alumni Cell at IIT Kharagpur.  The three day event was attended by UG Alumni, Faculty members and students from the institute. Alumni from the Ruby Batch (1976), Silver Batch (1986) and Pearl Batch (2001) were especially invited to the event to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee Year. 

Through the alumni meet, students presently studying at the institute were given the chance to meet former students and build strong bonds with the community.  The event started with a campus tour, providing alumni with an opportunity to witness the development of the space. They also were given the opportunity to interact with faculty members and gain an in-depth knowledge about the academic, research and technological advancements. During the campus tour alumni also visited their residential halls.

The institute conducted a 2.2 mile mini marathon which was an experience for the alumni of all age groups who participated. The marathon was highly appreciated by the alumni which encouraged them to participate and also foster a sense of unity among students. 

Live cultural programmes were also conducted at the alumni event. The cultural events featured performances by Bandish Band and Madari Band which were well received and thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

The three-day event concluded with a dinner party, bonfire and a DJ night. The event provided the students of the institution an opportunity to engage in informal networking and interaction with the alumni. The primary objective of the event was to foster a strong bond between the students of the institute and the alumni to commemorate its platinum jubilee.
