As the wait for the CBSE Class 12th Results 2026 intensifies, the Board has clarified its stance on evaluation following the unprecedented cancellation of exams in West Asian countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, due to regional conflict. With over 18.5 lakh students registered globally, the Board is prioritising a fair assessment framework to keep students on track for university admissions.

Alternative Assessment and Digital Evaluation

The most significant update involves the Alternative Assessment Scheme for students in affected regions. Since exam schedules between March 16 and April 10, 2026, were cancelled, results for these subjects will be calculated using internal school data.

  • The Best of Three Rule: For major subjects, theory marks 70 out of 80 marks, the Board will consider the highest score from the quarterly, half-yearly, or final pre-board exams.
  • Skill Subject Assessment: For vocational subjects, evaluation will rely primarily on the final pre-board performance.
  • On-Screen Marking OSM: For the exams that were conducted, CBSE has utilised digital evaluation. Answer sheets were scanned and graded by examiners on secure digital platforms to eliminate totalling errors and speed up the result process.
  • No change in Practicals: Internal assessment and practical marks, which were uploaded by schools earlier in the session, remain unchanged and will be added to the calculated theory scores.
  • Supplementary Exam Options: Students dissatisfied with their results or those who missed exams entirely will be given an opportunity to appear for a physical supplementary exam in July 2026.

This proactive approach aims to ensure that students from West Asia are not disadvantaged during the competitive college application season. Results are tentatively expected to be announced on the official website, cbse.gov.in.
