The Central Board of Secondary Education has decided to extend the relaxation for students with a basic knowledge of mathematics to study mathematics in Class 11 for the academic year 2025-26. The board instructed school principals to confirm that such children have the competence and aptitude to study mathematics in Class 11 before allowing them to choose the subject.
CBSE advised that the decision will no longer be valid once the new study pattern is adopted following the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-SE) guidelines.
The board underlined that once the subjects for the List of Candidates (LOC) for board exams 2025 are finalized, no changes to the available courses will be allowed. "Schools are requested to communicate this information to parents/students so that necessary action can be taken. However, once the subject has been entered into the LOC, no further changes will be accepted."
In the earlier sessions, CBSE has given exemption to offer Mathematics (041) in class XI/XII to the students who offered Mathematics (Basic) in class X because of the pandemic and other issues.
