The Indian men's hockey team have successfully won the gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after defeating Malaysia 5-1 in the final. With this win, they have also booked their direct qualification for the LA Olympics 2028.

In the final, India put up a dominant victory over Malaysia. After the scores were level in the first quarter, India never gave Malaysia a chance to rise from that position and ensured a top podium finish.

India vs Malaysia Men’s Hockey Final: Match Details

The first goal was scored by Harmanpreet Singh through a penalty corner in the 11th minute, but just two minutes later, Malaysia countered with Shalom Silverius scoring the equaliser.

Meanwhile, in the second quarter, India took the lead when Jugraj Singh scored through a penalty corner. In the third quarter, Hardik Singh also scored through a penalty corner, giving India a very handy lead.

After that, in the fourth quarter, India ensured a significant lead and never allowed Malaysia to come back into the game, with Shilanand Lakra and Abhishek scoring, while Harmanpreet Singh scored his second goal.

Throughout the match, India held 54% of possession, which clearly showed their dominance in the final of Asian Games 2026.
