Home State (HS) vs OS (Other State) Quota
Students, while appearing for the counseling process, often get confused with OS and OH quota distribution. So, every NIT withholds a 50% quota for Home State (HS) candidates. The major difference is simple: students who have completed their class 12th from the state the same as a specific NIT are eligible for Home State quota. Whereas other state quotas are designated to candidates applying beyond that state.
The quota creates bigger competition between students across the country for each NIT. The quota supports the diversity and high academic standards promised by national institutes, while also offering regional accessibility to local students.
