Factors that Determine the IBPS PO Prelims Cutoff Marks
There are several key factors that influence the determination of the final cutoff marks every year, which are as follows:-
- The total number of applicants who appear for the exam. If there is a high volume of candidates who appear for the exam, the competition becomes difficult, which might make the cutoff higher.
- The difficulty level of the exam. The difficulty level of the questions across the multiple shifts is also an important determining factor. A difficult exam lowers the average score, which in turn leads to a lower cutoff.
- The total number of vacancies, which are announced by the official authority, also plays an important role. If there are fewer vacancies, the cutoff will be higher and vice versa.
- As the IBPS PO Prelims exam was conducted across multiple shifts, the IBPS will apply a normalization method to adjust the raw scores according to the relative difficulty level of each shift.
