The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is set to release the provisional answer key, response sheet soon on its official website natboard.edu.in. It is expected that the board may release the answer keys, question ID number access by September 10, 2026, though no official confirmation has been provided yet. The board will release the provisional answer keys for the first time, though final answer keys were released last year also along with scorecards.
What Does NBEMS’ Official Notice Says For Answer Key Release?
The Information bulletin released by the NBEMS board mentions that the answer keys for NEET PG 2026 will be published in compliance with the Supreme Court order given in 2025. The bulletin also says that response sheets, question ID numbers access, correct answer key to questions will be made available to students via their applicant login.
Will NBEMS Board Release Answer Key For First Time?
The board had released the NEET PG 2025 results first - 16 days after the examination and released the answer keys along with scorecards - 29 days after the exam. This year, the board is likely to release the provisional answer key before results, so objections on the same can be received. The provisional answer key is expected to be released by September 10, 2026.
How To Calculate Marks Using NEET PG Answer Key?
Candidates can calculate their probable NEET PG 2026 score by comparing their responses with the correct answers mentioned in the provisional answer key. As per the NEET PG marking scheme, candidates will be awarded four marks for every correct answer, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks will be awarded or deducted for questions that are left unanswered.
The formula to calculate the probable score is:
Probable Score = (Number of Correct Answers × 4) − (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)
For example, if a candidate has answered 150 questions, out of which 120 are correct and 30 are incorrect, the estimated score would be:
(120 × 4) − (30 × 1) = 450 marks
Candidates should note that the score calculated using the provisional answer key is only an estimated score. The final marks will be based on the final answer key and the evaluation process followed by NBEMS.

Experts and students described the NEET PG 2026 question paper as being of moderate difficulty. According to experts, the paper included a greater focus on image interpretation, investigations, treatment and clinical decision-making.
