IIT Kanpur Announces 5-Week Online Certificate Course on Python, AI, ML

The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has announced a five-week online certification programme on Python for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) and Deep Learning (DL).
The programme will be held from December 14, 2026, to January 15, 2027 in online mode through Zoom. It is being coordinated by Professor Aditya K Jagannatham, Professor and Arun Kumar Chair at IIT Kanpur.
This course is aimed at those who want practical exposure to AI and machine learning. Students, researcher scholars, faculty members, industry professionals and R&D staff can join this programme.
What will students learn?
As per IIT Kanpur, participants will work on Python projects using real-world datasets. The focus will be on hands-on learning rather than just theory.
The course will cover important Python libraries and packages such as NumPy, Linalg, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow and Keras. Students will learn how to implement algorithms used in AI, machine learning, neural networks and deep learning.
There will also be problem-solving sessions which will help participants prepare for tests and job interviews. The programme will also show how Python and related tools can be used to set up virtual labs and guide academic projects.

Who can apply?
The programme is open to students from many backgrounds. BTech, BE, BSc, BBA and BCA students can apply. MTech, ME, MSc, MBA and MCA students are also eligible. PhD scholars who are doing research can take part as well.
Apart from students, faculty members from engineering, science and management streams can join. Professionals working in industry and R&D organizations are also eligible.
IIT Kanpur says the main aim of the course is to strengthen Python programming skills and show how to apply them in AI and ML fields.
Registration deadlines
The golden registration deadline is October 4, 2026. After that, flash registration will be on October 25 and early-bird registration on November 8, 2026.
The regular registration deadline is November 29, 2026. For those who miss it, spot registration will be available on December 15, 2026.
Interested candidates can register online through the official IIT Kanpur portal. Since it is an online course, participants from anywhere can join.
