CAT 2026 Registration Deadline Extended To September 22 By IIMs, Check Revised Schedule
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have extended the CAT 2026 registration date to September 22, 2026. The official notice stated that students can apply for up to five preferred test cities until 5 pm on September 22.
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have extended the CAT 2026 registration deadline to September 22, 2026. The registration window was earlier scheduled to close on September 15, 2026 at 5 pm. Candidates can register for the management test, scheduled to be held on November 29 (Sunday) on the official website iimcat.ac.in till September 22 (5 pm).
According to the official notice released on September 15, MBA aspirants can select up to five preferred test cities for the CAT 2026 examination. It also mentions that in case of a high demand for a region, candidates may be allotted test cities based on the availablity. Students must note that the official notification clarified that, "under no circumstances, the September 22, 2026 deadline will be extended."
How To Register For CAT 2026?
- Visit the official website iimcat.ac.in and click on “Register.”
- Enter your personal details including name, date of birth, email address, country and mobile number.
- Then, click on “Generate OTP.”
- Enter the OTP and submit the required documents including photograph, signature, academic marksheet and others.
- Select your test city preference and submit the application form
- Once you have submitted the application form, you will be allotted a test city and allowed to appear for CAT 2026.

CAT 2026: What Is Allowed To Be Changed During The Edit Window?
The official notice clarified that, following the closure of registration window, an edit window will be opened, allowing candidates to change only the following submissions:

Candidates must ensure they have the following documents handy when registering for the CAT 2026 examination.
- Passport Size Photograph
- Scanned Signatures
- Class 10, 12 and graduation marksheet
- Degree certificate such as FIAI, CA, ICWA (CMA), CS, etc. if applicable
- Category Certificate
- Work experience certificate (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
CAT 2026 Application Fee
The CAT 2026 application fee is Rs 2,700 for General, EWS and NC-OBC category candidates. For candidates belonging to SC, ST and PwD, the application fee has been set at Rs 1,350.

Who Can Apply For CAT 2026?
Candidates with a bachelor's degree with at least a 50 per cent aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA can apply. Those belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) are given a relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks (45 per cent).
Students who are currently enrolled in their final year of the undergraduate programme are also eligible to apply for the management test.
CAT 2026 Exam Date
The CAT 2026 examination is scheduled to be conducted on November 29, 2026 (Sunday) in three sessions. It will be held for a duration of 120 minutes and will comprise questions from three sections:
Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Section III: Quantitative Ability
