Bhairav Commando Battalions:The Indian Army introduced the Bhairav Commando Battalions, a brand new specialised force represents a fusion of traditional courage and modern military technology to evolve national security, a new addition of India’s growing tactical sophistication and its commitment to guarding the nation’s sovereignty with ‘ fearless protection’’.
The bhairav Battalions is named after the fierce manifestation of ‘’Lord Shiva’’ associated with protection and annihilation of enemies. The unit represents a significant leap in India’s tactical capabilities with its upcoming debut on the Kartavya Path on Republic Day Parade 26, 2026.

About Key Characteristics of Battalions:

A new class of compact, high-tech combat units of the Indian Army.

The unit is equipped with state-of-the-art assault rifles, surveillance drones, and advanced night-vision technology.

Each Battalion of the Bharat will comprise approximately 250 soldiers, personnel will be drawn from infantry, artillery, air defense, signals and other combat support arms.

Currently the Indian Army raises 15 Bhairav Battalions and plans for up to 25 which is becoming a permanent part of India’s Defence structure.
