Agniveer Eligibility Criteria 2026

One must strictly satisfy the age, academic and physical criteria established by the Ministry of Defence to successfully apply for the 2026 recruitment.

Age Limit

The age criteria are uniform across the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force

Minimum Age: 17.5 years (17 years and 6 months)
Maximum Age: 21 years

Note: The calculation is based on the official enrollment date rather than the application date. The temporary pandemic relaxation to 23 years has concluded.

Educational Qualifications 

Academic requirements vary depending on the specific trade someone choose to enter

Nationality and Marital Status

• Nationality: Must be a citizen of India or a subject of Nepal.

• Marital Status: Only unmarried male and female candidates are permitted to enrol and they must agree to remain unmarried throughout the 4-year tenure.

Documents required for Agniveer 

Ensure you have clear scanned copies of these documents ready before attempting the online registration:

• Identity & Address Proof: Aadhaar Card (preferably linked to your active mobile number) or Voter ID.
  Academic Certificates: Class 8th, 10th or 12th mark sheets and passing certificates, depending on your target post.
  Domicile Certificate: A valid residence certificate affixed with a photograph, issued by a Tehsildar or District Magistrate.
  Character Certificates: A recent School Character Certificate from your principal and a separate community character certificate issued by the local Sarpanch or Municipal Corporation within the last 6 months.

• Unmarried Certificate: A signed declaration from the local authority confirming your unmarried status (required for candidates under 21 years of age).

• Special Quota Certificates (If applicable): NCC (A/B/C) certificates, sports achievements, or relationship certificates for wards of ex-servicemen.

• Photographs: Recent passport-sized colour photographs with a light-coloured background.
  
  

Benefits  of the Agniveer Sheme 

Agniveers receive a monthly salary package alongwith the distinct allowances. A key aspect of the sceme is customized corpus fund, where 30% of the monthly salary is contributed by the individual and matched equally by the Central Government. 4-Year Salary Structure

• 1st Year: ₹30,000 gross monthly pay (₹21,000 in-hand + ₹9,000 corpus contribution)

• 2nd Year: ₹33,000 gross monthly pay (₹23,100 in-hand + ₹9,900 corpus contribution)

• 3rd Year: ₹36,500 gross monthly pay (₹25,550 in-hand + ₹10,950 corpus contribution)

• 4th Year: ₹40,000 gross monthly pay (₹28,000 in-hand + ₹12,000 corpus contribution)

Post-Service Benefits

• The Seva Nidhi Package for Agniveers. They receives approximately ₹11.71 Lakh as a lump-sum amount upon completing the four-year mark. It  is entirely tax-free.

• Permanent enrolment up to 25% of the batch will be absorbed into the permanent regular cadre of the Armed Forces based on objective performance evaluations during service.

• Insurance cover of non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 Lakh is provided for the entire duration of the service.

• Career lateral entry through ultiple state governments, paramilitary forces (like BSF, CRPF), and private sectors offer reservation quotas and hiring preferences to former Agniveers.

How to Apply Online

The recruitment process is managed online through the official portals of the respective wings. Follow these steps to successfully lodge your application form:

• Step 1: Visit the official portal of your preferred service wing

• Step 2: Click on the Agnipath or Agniveer Registration ink visible on the homepage.

• Step 3: Do the initial registration using your Aadhaar number, a valid email address and an active mobile number. Complete the OTP verification.

• Step 4: Log in using your new credentials and fill in your details carefully. Ensure your name, parental details and date of birth match your Class 10th certificate.

• Step 5: Upload the scanned copies of your photographs, signature and educational mark sheets as per the specified file sizes.

• Step 6: Remit the standard application fee utilizing online payment methods such as UPI, debit cards or net banking.

• Step 7: Review your complete application preview carefully, submit the form and download a hard copy of the confirmation page for your future reference.
