Tamil Nadu School Closed in Thiruvarur District 

Schools in the Thiruvarur district of Tamil Nadu have officially been declared as a local holiday for schools and colleges on January 28, 2026. This is to celebrate the grand Kumbabishekam ceremony.

Although the Thiruvarur District Magistrate has announced a local holiday tomorrow, parents and students should understand the order is specific to Taluks to celebrate a major religious event. 

Here’s the list of Educational institutions that will follow the local holiday:

• Needamangalam

• Kottur

Chandigarh Schools Emergency Alert: Schools To Remain Closed Due To Bomb Threat

More than nine schools in Chandigarh territory recieved bomb threats throough email, causing panic and emergency alert throughout the vicinity. School authorities immediately took action informing the Chnadigarh police and evacuated the schools, as a precauation to safegaurd students. 

In view of the threat and students and teachers safety many institutions immediately imposed holidays across Chandigarh. 

Students, parents and teachers are advised to wait for announcement from local authorities, and schools to confirm for school reopening. 

Earlier, schools were closed till January 27, 2026, offering relief to students and teachers after the celebration of Republic Day on January 26. However, schools re-opened from today. The holiday was in view of ongoing winter break, extending due to extreme cold weather across the north belt.

Punjab: School Re-Opening Update

Schools in Punjab have reopened from today as the holiday was till today, defining it as 'Rest Day' for students and teachers after Republic Day celebration. Schools have started functioning normally from today. The districts that were observing holidays were:

• Ludhiana

• Amritsar

• Jalandhar

• Patiala

• Bathinda

• Mohali

• Hoshiarpur

 Students and parents are requested to stay updated through official sources regarding school holidays updates. 

Delhi NCR: Winter Vacation Dates 

Schools in Delhi and the National Capital Regions (Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad) and other neighbouring districts are open and will be functioning normally. There is no school holiday today in this regions.

Although, IMD has declared rain alert but there is no official announcement for school closure due to rain or cold. 

Uttar Pradesh: School Opening Update

Schools in Noida, Ghaziabad and Luknow are open but the timings may vary here due to lasting cold. Some districts in Uttar Pradesh are also functioning with shift in school timings taking in consideration of morning fog and lingering cold across the state.
