Under the leadership of the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Singh Mann, the education system of Punjab is moving forward with a new chapter. The charter of the government is not only to enhance learning among students but also to extend global-level training to the teachers themselves, who lay the foundation for imparting knowledge. Coming from a family of teachers himself, Chief Minister Mann believes that "teachers shape the direction of society," and this has steered the initiation of this landmark transformation.
Till now, 234 principals and education officers from the state have been given advanced training on leadership and management in Singapore. Another 152 lead teachers have had high-level coaching at IIM Ahmedabad. Also, 144 primary teachers have finished special training in modern methods of teaching from Turku University in Finland. The government is preparing to send more teachers abroad in the next phase.
The results of these training programs are already evident in schools. The learning spaces have been well-equipped with technology and students are using creative methods for their learning which has also become collaborative and the teacher-student interaction is more personalized than ever before. In the process, children are displaying marked improvement in motivation, confidence, and reasoning powers.
The government has hired 1,920 campus managers to relieve the teachers from non-teaching duties. These have ensured efficient school management and allowed teachers to solely concentrate on teaching, which has greatly led to an increase in school effectiveness and raised the quality of education.
Punjab has now become a model in educational reforms, as well as educational leadership. With teachers who have undergone training globally, the classrooms reflect a new wave of innovation, energy, and quality. This transformation is preparing the next generation for a strong and modern future.
