Elvis Presley is arguably one of history's greatest musicians. The King of Rock & Roll was born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo Mississippi and had very modest beginnings before rising to International fame and becoming one of the biggest stars of his day.

His unique sound blended various genres including but not limited to Blues, Country, and Gospel which changed the way people viewed popular music and would be the inspiration for countless other musical artists.

When did Elvis Presley start his Music Career?

Elvis Presley began a professional career in music when he signed a contract with Sun Records (Memphis, Tennessee) on July 5, 1954. Shortly after signing, he recorded several songs, including That's All Right, a popular song that was very well received in the Memphis area.

As a young man, Elvis attended Hume High School in Memphis, after moving there from Tupelo, Mississippi along with his family. 

He graduated from Hume High School in 1953, and he began developing his musical career while attending school. 

Many of Elvis' performances, both at school and at church events, were instrumental in the early stages of developing his musical skills.

In the year 1959, while on military duty in Germany, Elvis Presley was introduced to Priscilla Beaulieu. This led to the couple becoming husband and wife on May 1, 1967 in a ceremony held in Las Vegas.  

The marriage produced one child, a daughter named Lisa Marie Presley, in 1968. Elvis and Priscilla would continue to support each other throughout their lives despite divorcing in 1973.

Elvis produced many globally popular songs. He is best known for Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender, and Suspicious Minds, which were #1 hits on various charts during the 1950s and 1960s.
