The West Bengal Higher Secondary Semester 3 Exam 2027 began on September 21, with more than 7.18 lakh students appearing for the first language paper, according to the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education (WBCHSE). A total of 7,18,620 candidates appeared for the examination, including 3,15,731 male and 4,02,889 female candidates. The first paper was conducted from 11 am to 12:30 pm.
The WBCHSE Higher Secondary Semester 3 examinations are being conducted from September 21 to October 14, 2026, for the 2027 academic examination cycle. The schedule has been revised for some papers due to the by-elections in Nandigram and Rejinagar and holidays.

WB HS Semester 3 Exam 2027 Begins With Language Papers
The first examination of the West Bengal HS Semester 3 board exam 2027 was conducted on September 21. Students appeared for language papers including Bengali, English, Hindi, Nepali, Urdu, Santhali, Odia, Telugu and Punjabi.
According to the WBCHSE, the examination was conducted between 11 am and 12:30 pm. The council has put in place additional security and monitoring arrangements across examination centres.
The examinations will continue through September and October, covering subjects across Science, Commerce, Humanities and vocational streams.
West Bengal HS Semester 3 Exam 2027: Revised Exam Dates
The WBCHSE has revised the schedule for several papers. The examinations originally scheduled for October 5, 6 and 7 have been shifted to October 12, 13 and 14, respectively. The changes were made following the announcement of by-elections in Nandigram and Rejinagar.

WBCHSE Introduces OMR-Based Evaluation
One of the major changes in the West Bengal HS Semester 3 Exam 2027 is the use of OMR answer sheets for the MCQ-based examination. The third-semester examinations are being conducted with OMR sheets for the first time. The council has also partnered with India Post for the collection and transportation of used OMR sheets from examination centres to its regional offices.
The WBCHSE has also introduced additional safeguards for question paper distribution. Question papers carry unique serial numbers, while sealed packets are opened in front of students before the examination begins.
WB HS Semester 3 Exam 2027: Security Guidelines
The council has strengthened security arrangements across the examination venues. The exams are being conducted at 825 centres covering 2,105 venues, of which 99 have been identified as sensitive.
Students are required to undergo security checks before entering the examination venue. The council has also installed CCTV surveillance at examination centres and introduced strict restrictions on electronic devices.
Mobile phones, calculators and other electronic gadgets are prohibited inside the examination venues. WBCHSE has warned that possession of such devices during the examination can lead to cancellation of the student's examination and enrolment.

Students appearing for the remaining West Bengal HS Semester 3 examinations should carefully check the latest subject-wise timetable before reaching their examination centre. Candidates should also arrive at the venue well before the reporting time and carry the required examination documents.
