Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab has achieved a historic leap in the field of education. In the National Achievement Survey 2024, Punjab secured first place nationwide, surpassing traditionally leading states like Kerala.
The outstanding performance of students in classes 3, 6, and 9 has demonstrated that government schools have now become a symbol of quality education. Education Minister Bains stated, “This success belongs to the common child who wrote a new story through hard work and confidence.”
Not only in academic results but also in competitive examinations, government school students have made history. In 2025, all 848 students cleared NEET, 265 cleared JEE Mains, and 44 cleared JEE Advanced, of which 6 students got admission to IITs.
This change was facilitated by programs such as "School of Eminence" and coaching camps of the government. The government has also supplied 15.49 lakh students with uniforms and free textbooks to all students. In 2025, 725 new teachers were recruited and over 10,000 contractual teachers were regularized. To date, more than 25,000 teachers have been appointed permanently.
Today, Punjab’s government school system competes with private institutions. Educational reforms have proven that studying in a government school is now a matter of pride.
